Workshop Description

Join us for a fun workshop to learn and sing along with Cajun songs! Led by Jamie Lynn Fontenot, she will take you along over 6 weeks to dive in to different songs that highlight Louisiana French. All music lovers welcome! The workshop will be held at:

Lafayette International Center
735 Jefferson St, Lafayette LA 70501

Jamie Lynn was raised in California, and is currently a French Immersion Teacher at Lafayette Parish. She is a French-speaking, Louisiana Cajun musician that plays traditional music from Southwest Louisiana. She plays and teaches Cajun guitar, vocals and song and violin. She has performed all over the United States and beyond to perform with her Cajun band, The Daiquiri Queens and has taught French song and Cajun dance at many festivals and music camps throughout her beloved career as a musician. She is also musician and singer with the band Chere Elise with Steve Riley.

The workshop can be paid PER DAY or for the WHOLE 6-week session. Prior registration is MANDATORY for entry. Register before April 12th - limited seats available. Prices are as follows:

Per day: $5 for AF members, $10 for nonmembers

6 weeks: $25 for AF members, $50 for nonmembers

The class will be immersed in the local French vernacular starting on day one, using Louisiana French in lively, engaging, fast-paced activities. In addition to the usual beginner themes such as greetings, weather, family, and physical description, students will learn structures and vocabulary they can use while celebrating Mardi Gras, which falls on the first Tuesday after the course ends.
